Bioware is a name that has always been associated with quality games ever since they burst onto the scene with the Baldur’s Gate games and lighted a match under a genre that had stagnated.

It’s one thing to introduce a ground-breaking RPG. It’s another to follow up with great expansion packs. While Atari and BioWare have introduced one of the most playable and compelling RPGs in years in the form of Neverwinter Nights, the first expansion pack, Shadows of Undrentide was a mildly disappointing follow-up title.

First we had Baldur’s Gate. Trademarks of this RPG was it’s quite (at least by that time’s standards) huge world, almost total freedom and a very refreshing way to create a RPG with D&D rules integrated.

I mentioned in my earlier review of Neverwinter Nights that it is a game best suited for multi-player, and I have to say that the Shadows of Undrentide expansion just drives that statement home further.

From the PC role playing giant, Bioware, comes the first expansion to its Neverwinter Nights series, Shadows of Undrentide. This expansion gives you pretty much an entirely new game to play, with a brand new 10 to 20 hour campaign, many new weapons and items, new spells and the ability to alter your henchmen's equipment.

Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide is the first expansion pack to BioWare’s hit role-playing game from last summer, Neverwinter Nights. It contains new tilesets, creatures, player classes, spells, skills, feats, equipment -- and possibly a kitchen sink -- and all the new stuff is shown off in a new 20-hour campaign.

What better way to celebrate the one-year anniversary of one of the best RPG games of 2002 than with a brand new expansion pack released exactly one year later (to the day). Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide is the first official expansion to the mega-hit Neverwinter Nights that has been going strong for more than a year thanks to some powerful editing tools and a very active mod community.

There is a place, far to the north, that lays the control and powers of the more civilized in the land. It is a region known as the Silver Marches, or the Savage Frontier. Those in the south consider it a land of barbarians and monsters.

I enjoyed the single-player experience of Neverwinter Nights (NN) greatly. Though the depth promised by it modular editor and DM tools never produced the fluid multi-player role-playing it promised, the single-player game was tight and fun.

Faerun is an enduring fantasy world, loved by fans ever-hungry for more novels and games set amid its borders. While writers like R.A. Salvatore gave us memorable characters such as scimitar-wielding Drizzt Do'Urden, it wasn't until Bioware gave us Baldur's Gate that gamers got a top-quality invitation to the lands he calls home.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the single-player campaign for the original Neverwinter Nights was quite possibly the most relentlessly bland RPG experience I've ever had. The story was boring and the characters were uninteresting and unsympathetic.

This is an expansion pack or an official campaign add-on for the game Neverwinter Nights (NWN) which was released a year ago. This means that you must have the original game installed before you can install this one.

I’d just like to start this by saying a big thank you to Bioware and the NWN community for providing me with so many hours of enjoyment. I’ve honestly spent more time playing Neverwinter Nights than ANY OTHER GAME in the past 12 months, so it’s fair to say I’m a bit of an authority on the subject, not to mention the most suitable Alf to review this first official expansion pack.

In some ways, Neverwinter Nights is the crowning achievement of nearly a decade of Dungeon & Dragons computer role-playing games that began with the SSI "gold box" series and continued with the Baldur's Gate franchise.

Even though it might be an expansion pack, Shadows of Undrentide has nothing to do with the town of Neverwinter or the previous game’s storyline. Undrentide begins within the frozen wilds of the Silver Marches, where you and a few other students seek out the wisdom of a wise and revered Master Drogan.

Neverwinter Nights -- BioWare's first 3D role-playing game (RPG) that also allows users to create their own modules -- I made an esoteric Aristotelian analogy regarding the philosopher's stance on the old "chicken or egg" conundrum. I'll stick with a similarly abstruse theme in discussing Shadows of Undrentide, the first official expansion pack for Neverwinter Nights.
